Sunsets are some of my favorite things because every one of them is different. Some are pale and subtle, others are bold and vibrant, with a smooth gradation between dark red at the horizon to a deep blue overhead, as the evening prepares for the nightly star show.

This was taken just after the sun had set and the new moon was rising. It’s just a sliver to the right of the second pine on the left.

This was taken after a mercilessly hot afternoon wedding ceremony, where everyone was bravely pretending to smile. We were seated and the salad course had just been finished when the sun dropped behind the hills and a weak breeze picked up and we all breathed a sign of relief.

I just loved how the name of the restaurant in brilliant neon stood out in the dark silhouette.
